*Grumpy Old Person,

as opposed to a "Yuppie" Zine, for example.
We all know who they are.
When we get old, or begin to fit our own idea of "old" a decade later, it's important to be able to laugh at something sometimes. It moves some muscles around, I hear.

It's also important to remember things everybody else is too young to remember, and be able to pass them on. This requires a sharp mind, and laughter keeps those tired old brain cells charging, I hear.

Last but not least, it's important for us to practice and advocate plain common sense, while anybody remembers how to. This, in addition to getting us labeled "grumpy", gets us ignored by 99% of the country, I hear.

    But after all...

Grumpiness is only a state of mind.
You are only as grumpy as you feel.
My, but you don't look your grumpiness at all!

(There used to be a graphic here but it went south, and I don't mean to Tahiti.)

Now, in the year 2012, thirteen years after I started this Zine, with most of those years spent forgetting about it but an occasional blitz of gathering and posting every few years, I'm changing the cover. I know, you can't tell from the graphics (what's left), but Zine writers tend to go in for writing more than graphics. And, as I've noted, some of my original graphics went south and I don't care.

The top picture is my preferred image of a Goppie. This one:

is probably an actual image of a Goppie writer. I should know.

Links to the zine articles (Volume One):

Job Applicants: The Great Pretenders

The Fats of Life

An Apple a Day

Rules of Feeding Cats

The Pitfalls of Living Alone

Then there was a Volume Two of the Zine, I noticed.

Sort of different type article; An Allegory.

Multiple Choice Mail

The Trouble With Harry

To Phone or Not To Phone

And later, a Volume Three.
As I gathered up articles from approximately 2006 to 2010.

The Recommended Basic Diet

The State of Social Studies

Scores of Years

Cabbages and Kings

Okay, so I lost a lot of scribbling in those years. BUT Recently I worked hard at search-and-gather, and have now linked

Volume Four This will be the last one, I promise.

Hysteria is Good For You

Putting On Airs

It Just Isn't Done

Food For Thought

The Loved Ones

Somehow it is now 2012 and I am ......considerably older and grumpier.
That last article is probably me going out with a bang:

At this old spot, you might have signed my guestbook, but somebody lost my guestbook. It might have eloped with my graphics. sigh.

I'm also adding a section (no, it's not a Volume, it's a Section)
Oldies for the Kittens ...er, ..Children

The Sheepcats

Catnipaholics Anonymous

which may or may not grow.

Last and longest, now that I have been out of Texas for 18 years, I'm linking my infamous .... uh, ...tribute.. here:

Texanese: A primer for the rest of us

This is the only place in my website where it's linked, as far as I can remember.

So again, here's the first article:
First Article

I'm happy to say the articles link right on through. At least they used to. Uh.... one of these days I'll check.

Well, at least the pencil is still here.
