BOLENS HUSKI RIDEMASTER TRACTOR

In September of 1946, the Bolens Co. was purchased by the Food Machinery & Chemical Corp (FMC) of San Jose, Calif. The FMC Bean Cutler Division had already produced "Bean Cutler's" earlier in 1946.

  Around 1947 the FMC Bean Cutler tractor evolved into the "Bolens Huski Ridemaster" because the Bolens name was already so well known. The Bolens Ridemaster is credited as being the first production model, self-contained four-wheel, riding garden tractor.

The Bean-Cutlers had a 5hp AKS Wisconsin engine. In 1949 the ridemasters were equipped with a 6hp BKN Wisconsin engine. These are models 35AA and 35AB. The 35AA had 4;00 x 18 drive tires. The 35AB had 6:00 x 16 drive tires. In 1956 a model 38AB came with a 8hp Briggs engine.

FMC also at this time began to implement their own progressive engineering program within the new Bolens Tractor Division. This began the era of highly "Collectable Bolens Tractors" as we know them to be today.

BOLENS RIDE-A-MATIC TRACTOR

  In 1958 Bolens continued to blow away the competition adding the Ride-A-Matic series garden tractors with push button starting, Versa-Matic drive, automotive steering and differential, plus 21 attachments. The Model 220 had a Kohler 6.6 hp engine, and weighed in at a robust 420 lbs.

With big tractor performance and small tractor convenience and economy, this tractor was well received by the public. FMC Bolens produced the Ride-A-Matic up until 1962
