The Fairbanks-Morse Company was founded in the late 1880s in
Chicago, Illinois and manufactured many kinds of engines.
In September of 1916 the 'Z' series engine #200,000 was
introduced. In the latter part of 1919 changes in the
'Z' series engine #340,000, the 3 and 6hp, was
changed from igniter to sparkplug engine
ignition. These 'Z' series engines were
produced from 1916 thru 1944.
