"Once people who are on meth become psychotic, they are very dangerous...We're talking about very extreme alterations of normal brain function. Once someone becomes triggered to violence, there aren't any boundaries" - Dr. Alex Stalcup, Meth researcher. "They're completely bonkers, they're nuts. We're talking about very extreme alterations of normal brain function." Chronic use of the harsh chemical compound known as speed or crank can lead to psychosis, which includes hearing voices and experiencing hallucinations. The stimulant effect of meth is up to 50 times longer than cocaine, experts say, so users stay awake for days on end, impairing cognitive function and contributing to extreme paranoia. It's use intially creates feelings of euphoria and invincibility but experts say repeated abuse can alter brain chemistry and sometimes causes schizophrenia-like behavior. BE VIGILANT OF METH LABS AND METH ADDICTS!

Gov. Tom Corbett on Tuesday signed a bill to widen the right to use deadly force in self-defense. The bill, enacted by the Senate last week, will expand the state's castle doctrine to allow the right to use a gun or other deadly force in self-defense in situations outside a person's home or business. Currently, the use of deadly force is not justifiable if the person can safely retreat, except when the threat is made inside his or her home or business. The legislation also limits certain civil liability in some cases for people who act within the guidelines.

This is great!!! Chief Robert Impaglia and Patrolman Jim Evans have been to Columbus, Ohio for special weapons and tactics (SWAT) training involving the use of special military weapons, hostage barricade, drug search warrants and violent offender situations. They are requesting military rifles from the government at a reduced rate for NTPD to utilize in the event of a emergency situation where firepower would be needed to overcome a violent offender.
I'M WITH BARLETTA ON THIS MATTER!!! Barletta introduces bill to punish "sanctuary" cities. Cities that shield illegal immigrants should lose federal funds, U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta said Tuesday when introducing a bill to stop the money flow to so-called sactuaries. (See Citizens' Voice article June 1, 2011 by Kent Jackson, staff writer.)

Why am I a member of a crime watch? Because studies show that seven out of ten Americans don't even know who their neighbors are. Because criminals find it easier to operate in neighborhoods where people don't know each other, where the residents pay little attention to what's going on around them, where a thief or burglar won't have to worry about someone calling the police to report their activities. You should be involved because working with neighbors to look out for each other is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent crime in your neighborhood.
