I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE CREDIT TO MY LATE HUSBAND, WHO CARED SO MUCH ABOUT ME AND MY INTEREST IN LIGHTHOUSES.... HE TOOK ME ON MANY TRIPS FROM MAINE TO FLORIDA AND IN ALL, WE MUST HAVE VISITED AT LEAST TWENTY FIVE LIGHTS......HE TURNED EACH TRIP INTO AN EXCITING ADVENTURE....

My Mom was also well aware of my love of lighthouses...she retrieved the water color shown, from someone's refuse, presented to me proclaiming, here is the start of your collection...and indeed it was... Oh and by the way, the water color is "Annisquam Lighthouse",Gloucester, Massachusetts.




I WAS BORN AND RAISED ON STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK AND AM NOW LIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN THE BEAUTIFUL POCONO MOUNTAINS OF PENNSYLVANIA.....FAR FROM THE OCEAN AND NO LIGHTHOUSE IN SIGHT...BUT OUR HOME IS FILLED TO CAPACITY WITH LIGHTHOUSE PAINTINGS, FIGURINES AND QUITE AN ASSORTMENT OF LIGHTHOUSE PARAPHERNALIA.... BELOW ARE A FEW OF THE LIGHTHOUSES WE HAVE VISITED...

PORTLAND HEAD WAS THE VERY FIRST LIGHTHOUSE THAT J.K.AND I VISITED...ONE OF THE FIRST GIFTS THAT HE BOUGHT FOR ME WAS A LARGE FRAMED PICURE OF THIS LIGHT, SO IT WAS ONLY FITTING THAT THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST ONE TO VISIT......NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE HOW I FELT AS I STOOD THERE STARING IN AWE OF ITS BEAUTY...

LOCATED AT THE NORTH END OF
LONG BEACH ISLAND AND AFFECTIONATELY
REFERRED TO AS "OLD BARNEY"

While driving along the
main drag of the Island,
we noticed this replica of
"Barney" in front of a diner.

FENWICK ISLAND--DELAWARE




FENWICK ISLAND WAS OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO BE...
AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY WE WOULD DRIVE DOWN
AND SPEND A FEW DAYS OR EVEN A ONE
DAY TRIP JUST FOR A FABULOUS DINNER AT OUR
FAVORITE RESTAURANT, (Harpoon Hanna's)...ASIDE FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE,
THERE ARE SO MANY GIFT SHOPS,
RESTAURANTS, BOAT RIDES AND OF COURSE
THE WONDERFUL OCEAN AND BEACH....








While I was taking this picture
of the tee shirt displayed
in a gift shop window,
J.K. went in and bought
it for me..what a nice surprise


EATONS NECK, NEW YORK



This lighthouse is one of many on the Long Island Sound





One day "JK" and I heard of a lighthouse
not too far from home,
Lake Wallenpaupack..
so we hopped in the car and drove
on up to view...
well we got the shock of our lives...
see below...



Well at least it was a lighthouse although rather diminutive :-)

Actually it is attached to a restaurant,
not too tall and open to the public.
