The Keys Family History

Margaret Elizabeth Carlile and James Theodore Keys

The Keys family traces its roots back to the Cherokee Peace Chief, Amatoya Moytoy and Quatsy of Tellico thru two lines of descent. The first is thru James Theodore Keys, whose great-grandmother, Gu-Lu-Sti-yu of the Long Hair Clan, was the daughter of the great war chief, Doublehead. The second is thru his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Carlile, descended from the Ghigau, Nanye`hi, Nancy Ward of the Wolf Clan. This story will follow those lines down to the children of James' and Margaret's son, John Dudley Keys.
Beginning in the mountains of the Old Cherokee Nation, in what are now the states of Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama ...............
