AUGUST 2012


GLEN LYON

August 04 - Police arrested a Glen Lyon woman for possessing/growing a marijuana plant on her back porch.

August 08 - Police arrested a Glen Lyon man and his son after they assaulted their landlord during an argument. Both are receiving charges for assault and harassment.

August 09 - Police arrested a Glen Lyon man for possessing drug paraphernalia after observing people in the Coal Street park after hours. Police approached the group to tell them to leave and smelled burnt marijuana. A consensual search led to the drug paraphernalia.

August 30 - Police arrested a Nanticoke man for retail theft after he attempted to steal a can of beer from MJ Food Mart on West Main Street in Glen Lyon. A description was obtained of the man and police patrolled the area and found him working in the backyard of a house on Market Street. The man also confessed to a retail theft in February at the same store.

WANAMIE

SHEATOWN

No major incidents reported.

ALDEN

August 14 - Police arrested an Alden man after assisting Children and Youth. While speaking with the man in the backyard of the residence, police observed a 4 foot marijuana plant in the backyard garden. The man was arrested and confessed to owning and maintaining the plant.

RIDGE VIEW/LEE

August 06 - Police arrested a Hanover Township man for illegal dumping on the IP Road in Ridge View. He was also cited with discarding television sets, a summary violation.

GLEN LYON

September 02 - A Minersville woman was arrested for DUI after striking two vehicles and attempting to flee from the accident scene.

September 04 - A twenty year old Glen Lyon man attempted to hang himself in a residence on Ridge Street. His family intervened and police were dispatched; the man was taken into custody pursuant to state law, and subsequently committed to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.

September 09 - A traffic stop in Glen Lyon lead to the arrest of the vehicle occupants for possession of drug paraphernalia.

September 20 - A juvenile male from Glen Lyon was physically assaulted at the Coal Street playground. An investigation into the assault is now underway and charges are pending.


WANAMIE

September 06 - Police were dispatched to a residence on Vandermark Road to investigate the report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival officers determined that an unknown person or persons made off with a l998 Polaris All-Terrain Vehicle; that ATV was entered into NCIC as stolen and the investigation is ongoing.


SHEATOWN

September 07 - Police were dispatched to a residence on Old Newport Street to investigate the report of a theft. Upon arrival officers determined that an unknown person or persons made off with several hundred dollars worth of items that the resident left unsecured on their back deck. An investigation into this theft is ongoing.


ALDEN

September 09 - Police were dispatched to a residence on Sharpe Street to investigate the report of a burglary. Upon arrival officers determined that an unknown person or persons gained entry into a vacant home and removed copper piping and electrical wires. An investigation into this matter is ongoing.


RIDGEVIEW/LEE

No major incidents.
