June 2011

GLEN LYON

June 19 - Police were dispatched to an East Main Street for a report of two children's bicycles stolen from a yard overnight.

WANAMIE

June 14 - A Nanticoke female was arrested for DUI after she was observed by an officer driving in the wrong lane of travel in the West Kirmar Parkway.

SHEATOWN

June 20 - Police arrested an Alden man for public drunkenness after police found him passed out in the bushes near Fair Lane.

ALDEN

June 14 - Police arrested an Alden man on a 302 warrant after a brief foot chase in the woods.

June 25 - Police were dispatched to an East Kirmar residence for a burglary that occurred during the day. A playstation 3 was stolen. The offender was located, charges filed and the playstation returned to the owner.

May 2011

GLEN LYON

May 2 - Police were dispatched to Newport Street for a suicidal male that broke into a gun cabinet in an attempt to gain access to a firearm and kill himself. Police arrived on scene and found the man outside the residence. After being given numerous verbal warnings not to enter the residence, the subject was TASERED and taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for a 302 evaluation.

May 5 - Police received a complaint that a Glen Lyon resident's ex-girlfriend had stolen a firearm from him and sold it illegally. The gun was located and the female was charged with felony theft of a firearm.

May 12 - Police were dispatched to East Main for a report a male that stabbed himself in the abdomen. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for a 302 evaluation.

WANAMIE

May 1 - Police were dispatched to Belles Road in Wanamie for an ATV that was stolen from the side of a residence. Upon arrival, it was discovered that 2 other ATVs were stolen but recovered a short distance from the homes in a wooded area. It appeared that the suspects cut the padlocks off of the storage sheds and removed the ATVs.

May 12 - Police arrested a Wanamie woman on a felony burglary warrant out of this department. The female was responsible for burglaries and thefts in the Wanamie area.

SHEATOWN

May 6 - A Mountain Top male was arrested for DUI after police observed him driving in the wrong lane of travel.

May 19 - Police arrested a Plymouth man for a controlled substance DUI on Robert Street. After a search incident to arrest, drugs were also located in his possession.

ALDEN

May 15 - Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Chestnut Street in Alden. A Wilkes-Barre man was arrested for DUI after he drove his vehicle off an embankment.

May 27 - Police cited an Alden man for illegal dumping just behind Gruver Street.

April 2011

GLEN LYON

April 3 - Police were dispatched to West Main Street in Glen Lyon for a report of a burglary to an abandoned building where copper tubing was stolen. Police were unable to locate the owner of the building.

April 4 - Police received a report of a Hunlock Creek woman who left her children in a vehicle for more than 11 hours in a wooded area of the township. The children were located and unharmed and the female was promptly arrested for endangering the welfare of children.

April 4 - Police were dispatched to a female/female domestic disturbance at Rock Street Apartments. A Glen Lyon woman was arrested for assault after she attacked her roommate.

April 12 - Police were dispatched to West Enterprise Street for a stolen ATV that was left on the side of a garage.

April 14 - Police were dispatched to Spring Street for a report of a burglary to an abandoned house where copper tubing was removed.

WANAMIE

April 14 - Police took a Tunkhannock man into custody after he was found to be in possession of Heroin and related paraphernalia.

April 20 - Police were dispatched to West Main Ave for a report of a burglary where a lap top computer was stolen. Newport Police were able to collect a sufficient amount of physical evidence at the scene and charges will be filed upon analysis of all evidence from the PSP crime lab.

SHEATOWN

April 1 - Police were dispatched to Prince Street for a report of an intoxicated disorderly male. After being warned to desist in his actions the male did not comply and became combative. He was forcefully taken into custody by officers and charged with public drunkenness and resisting arrest.

April 17 - Police received a report of damage done to the fields near the Holy Child Grove. The offenders swere located and ordered to pay for damages at the church's request.

ALDEN

April 9 - Police took a Hunlock Creek man into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped for traffice violations.

April 26 - Police encountered a wanted male after stopping to aid a disable motorist on Alden Mountain Road. The male jumped through a window of a vehicle and fled into a wooded area. Charges were filed for escape and flight to avoid apprehension. This department is actively looking for the wanted subject.

LEE

April 4 - Police received reports of stolen veteran military markers from multiple cemeteries located in the Lee section of Newport Township. Police are relying on tips from the public to apprehend those responsible. To date, over a hundred markers were stolen.
