Gosh, just one???

  I kind of ask myself that question every year about 2 months from now when I create a Christmas letter - and over the years, the "happy things" change....

sometimes it is accomplishments that make the year special....graduations, moving, or maybe a newer car.... 
lately, it's been alot of appreciation for what He has brought me through - His GRACE, His MERCY.

  There would be some of both for me in 2003 -

surviving an assault on the highway during rush hour by a Mack truck, or Niki's graduation from cosmetology school.

  But the happiest times in 2003 aren't those.

  The happiest times for me have been those (and there have been several this year) times when He brought circumstances together for me to be an encourager to someone else at just the right time.

  Most of them totally unplanned by me, often when I am calling someone for another reason, and it was just the right time that they needed someone to call to listen, and sometimes coach during a difficult time that only God knew about....

  I guess that I'd sum all that up by saying the the happiest times are when He uses me, especially when I feel especially inadequate.

  His fingerprints are everywhere if we take a few minutes to SEE.

  At our church, we call those "God sightings", and some of the best advice ever indirectly given to me was to look for, then journal about those.

  They are so special, and sometimes you can almost smell the frankensence of His presence, and can almost hear the shuffle of a sandle...

     if we pause, the eternal isn't so far away......
