(Originally Written In May of 2000)

Hi. I guess I will start out by telling you a little about myself.
My name is Renee' McGinley.
I am 14 years old (I will be 15 in June).
I attend Holcomb High School in Holcomb, Missouri.
I am in the ninth grade.
I make straight A's, and am involved in several clubs and organizations.

I am Vice-President of my class, Secretary of FCCLA, Co-Captain of our Flag Corps, Reporter of Art Club, member of the Mural Team, member of the Beta Club, and on the Academic Team. I am in band (I play the flute), I am a Cheerleader, and I play Volley-Ball.
I am also enrolled in Girl Scouts and take an active part in Ely Baptist's Youth Group. I think that is about it.
I feel that I am just an average teenager, with a tightly packed social life.
I stay on the move all the time.....whether it is school related, church related, or just me and my friends hanging out, I am constantly busy.

Well, now I can tell you about how I came to know Jesus as my Savior............It all started when I was in second grade. I was 7 years old.
I came home from school after our Easter party that day. I did not feel good at all.....my legs and back were hurting. My parents thought that I had just ate too much at school, so they just put me to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I had big purple spots all over me, and I had a temperature of at least 104. Soon after that I started passing out.
I was rushed to St. Louis Children's Hospital.
I had caught a very contagious disease called Spinal Meningitis. But it was more serious than that. It had gotten into my blood. I am very blessed to be alive today.

Nearly every person who had this disease either died, or had loss of arms, legs, blindness, etc.
Thanks to God's grace, I came out of it with only migraines.
I thank God every day that he pulled me through that.
I don't remember this, but my family has told me that while I was in the helicopter, I actually died.
They told me that when I came out of my coma, the first thing I told them was that I saw my Grandma, my Grandpa, and my Great-Grandma (who all had died not long before this).
I told my family that I saw all of them, and that they said they were waiting on me.
They told me that although I wanted so very badly to stay with them, I could not, because I would be missed too much.
They said that my family and friends needed me, and that I had my whole life to live.
They told me that it wasn't my time yet, and that I had to go back to my Mom and Dad.
I don't remember any of this, but there are no doubts in my mind that it happened.
