###•••TOPIC #2---Honoring Your Parents!---
****Written by Sherry Campbell****
Well.....I don't have kids.
But I can remember that my Grandma lived about three blocks from me all my life.
(my mother's mother) and I can remember we were taught to respect her, you did not "get sassy" with Grandma.
But then Grandma hardly ever thought you were sassy, and she taught us a lot of things about life.
The difference of a moth and a butterfly.
She had us standing on a chair at three, measuring ingredients for a cake.
It was always fun at Grandma's but you always knew to mind what she said to.
And being her youngest grandchild, and maybe her most mischievous, I always did what Grandma said, because Grandma got me out of a lot of trouble from time to time, when I would do something not so nice at home.
Granted she would have a talk with me, but that was better than the spanking I would get at home.
Which spanking is a whole other issue, I think there is a difference between "beating" and "spanking".
We would get 5 swats on the behind, and a stern talking to, then sent to your room to "think it over"...
However, back to respect...we took care of my Grandma all the time.
I have always just naturally tried to help my parents.
It took me a long time to realize that minding, leading the right life, and helping parents in need was respecting them.
For the most part I did all three throughout my high school years, I had a 5 year rebellion, and then came back to doing all three.
Even during my 5 year rebel years I would always try to help out around the house, and if I could help with a money problem I did so with a free heart.
I never asked for a penny back, and felt good that I could help them.
That's my thoughts.
I think the world is a better place when we all respect not just our parents, but also our grandparents, and the elderly.
