  • Make sure that the varnish you use is an acrylic base. Kamar must be because it will protect the ink and not affect the movement of the ink. Also DecoArt Americana makes a Matte and Gloss Acrylic sealer spray. I started with DecoArt and now use both. I use at least 6 light coats just to make sure there is total coverage! Then follow up with a good hard UV varnish - I spray at least 3-6 light coats as per the can instructions. If you do not seal then, eventually, the ink can be scratched or removed just with handling - even if a decorative piece.
  • I have never purchased Kamar. I always use Rustoleum 2X clear coat. It seals the inks perfectly, has UV protection and comes in glossy, satin and matte finishes and is cheaper then Kamar. I also use Rustoleum triple thick after applying a light coat of the clearcoat. I have used Rustoleum on tile, Yupo, Photopaper, glass and metal without any problems.
