What Hell was like on Earth
For Jesus on Calvary.
A real human totally free from sin
But so hated by the multitude
The spit--The rocks--The mockings
Went far beyond--Wicked Rude.....
He was beaten over and over
Cursed with the most horrible lines
Everytime He was able to lift His head
He saw "Y O U!!" and his love blossomed everytime.
The whipping branded deep lacerations
And His blood was pouring, gushing, dripping.
In His weakened, ravaged shape
He carried His own cross, barely lifting
And Yet YOU stand there now....
And just How do you feel?
Each Sin YOU do commit
drove those spikes and thorns for real!
His pain was not eased, He ached from head to toe
From the bloody crown of thorns He wore
to the giant rusty nails that drilled through his feet were so sore.
He tasted dirt and blood and gagged in vain.
and vinegar was poured upon his lips
And if all that wasn't enough
A Soldier's spear in His side to assure death's grip.
At Noon, the sky turned dark
As Jesus screamed out in pain.
As He weakly looked into YOUR eyes.
He cried out to God...Again.
Then as Jesus slumped over lifeless
and the last drops of blood spilled on the ground.
The earth shook--Rocks ripped apart
and the curtain of the temple was torn down.
As we all look in tears
Jesus hangs like a gutted hunk of meat.
Can we continue thinking we are oh so good?
Or will we fall at the Savior's feet.
Yes...Jesus Christ the Son of God
Given to each of us for our sins.
He was placed in a grave
But that stone was rolled away...
And He returned back to Heaven again...
He left behind a promise
A Love-never before seen
Sacrificing His Own precious life
For You and Me and every other human being.
I treasure the Old Rugged Cross
Where my Jesus paved the way.
His blood gave Us Our Ticket
To a Heavenly Home we can go to someday.
