There is a place just north of Sydney called the Blue Mountains, and no, they are not blue, not really sure why they are called the blue mountains, but it is sooo pretty up there.
But I was stand at the point of a look out and just looking out over the edge and I looked out at the valleys and how they are soo deep and bushy.
And God really reminded me of the valleys in my own spiritual life. How they have been so deep and depressing, but He also reminded me of the times I have spend on my way up the mountain, and then on top of the mountain.
I, myself am not in a real deep valley at the moment, but I am certainly not on the top either, guess I am on my way up.. but God made His presence so clear to me yesterday, while I was standing on the edge of that mountain!
It was awesome!!
I Was certainly not expecting anything. And He quietly reminded me that He is always there, both in the valley and on the mountain top.. and also on my journey up.
We are always going to face it.... there are going to be times in the valley and there are going to be those victorious times on the top..... but its sometimes the times going up that are the hardest.. we often try to carry the load on our own..
we are stubborn, and dont want to rely on Gods help to get us up there. But He is waiting and willing to do.. if we just lean on Him.
Be encouraged.... sometimes it often feel like you are always going to be in the valley... or that it seems to take forever to get up to the top.... you may seem like you are going two steps forward and one step back.. but you will get there.. as long as you let Him help you.. dont do it all on your own!!!
-----THE NEXT DAY-----
I spent a quiet afternoon by myself.. thinking, praying and reflecting...and took a nap...
And God gave me the names of some friends.. Christian, that I have known for sometime, that are what I consider, stuck in a rut...
Now, I have been in many many a rut. God showed me how it is like running around and around the same mountain, year after year.. but at the bottom. And I guess, once you do that for sometime, you start to dig yaself in a trench.....
I Have read Psalms 23 a few times today, tis a popular Psalms, but there is a very important verse " Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil". David did not say while he was staying there.. he said, while I was walking THROUGH. Dont camp there!!
Its soo important to keep moving, to keep those legs going, no matter how tired we are.
Our Christian growth and experience should be continual, moving onward and upward, its a journey, a process.. that does not stop till the day we meet Him face to face!! But walking through a valley may take some time, and we may need to pitch a tent and stay a night, but dont stay there... dont live there!!
Dont make the valley of the shadow of death your new home!
Often a valley is simply the experience between one mountain top and another 'higher' one. God calls us higher and higher, so the mountains that we climb have to be higher than the previous ones.
But to experience each new 'mountain top experience' we have to negotiate what lies between... (unfortunatly).. am just now thinking it would be cool to be able to go mountain top hopping!
Hop from one mountain top to another, without having to go all the way down and through the valley and then up again!
But, God wants us to walk through the valley.. and all through our journeys with a victory attitude!
One that has us rejoicing and having authority over the darkness.. no matter what the terrain looks like!!
(and judging by the Aussie outback and bush, it would be pretty nasty.. the deadly snakes and spiders.. not trying to turn you all off coming here)
Having a Victory attitude is what made David able to sing like he did in the midst of the shadows of death!
And keeping that Victory mentality all the way THROUGH the valley and continuing UP the mountain top, will in force keep us out of those ruts at the bottom of the mountain!
