June Junko Tanaka and Terry (Terence) Beresford first met at the Toronto Buddhist Church in the Fall of 1959. Terry had been asked to assume the duties of editor of the monthly church newsletter, the "Guiding Light." He was taken around by the President of the Toronto Young Buddhist Society (Roy Sato) to meet the members of the volounteer staff, June was one of those staff members. They were married 10 months later at the Toronto Buddhist Church, the ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Newton Ishiura.
They have three children and three grand-daughters.The children are, Shaun Sataro (b62), Timothy (b64)and Colleen (b66), Natalie Shinobu Beresford (b 01/14/99), Georgia Beresford Madeira (b 02/23/01) and Emily Hoshiko Beresford (b 05/13/01) are the grand-daughters.
The family managed to get together for Christmas 1989, this picture was taken in famous "Beacon Hill Park," in Victoria, B.C. Canada. You can see why many Canadians would love to move to Victoria.
This picture was taken Victoria Day, 2001 in Victoria, as you can see the family has multiplied. Now that we all live in Victoria or Vancouver it is a lot easier to get together.
David Madeira and Shaun were friends in the Canadian Naval Reserve and Shaun introduced Colleen to Dave. Despite that, Shaun and Dave have remained friends.
Shaun reported to a new job at Vancouver International Airport, the person he was to report to was on the telephone using rather colorful language. That person was Lise Daigle, they were married less than one year later.
