Rules for All Members

What to expect

The Hays Senior Center has gracously provided us with a wonderful heated pool and time slots for our water aerobics classes.

I teach on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30.

If you look around the locker room and pool area, you will see that the Hays Center and Instructors have posted some basic rules. These rules benefit us all. Some have to do with our safety, the filtration system, and some are common courtesy during class.

Some that I would like everyone to pay close attention to are:

1) Be sure to wear water shoes both in the locker room and around the pool area. We have had several people fall due to pools of water making the areas slick. Also wearing shoes will keep you from contracting Athletes Foot, Foot Fungeses, etc.

2) I prefer members of my class to wear their water shoes during class. This is to help protect you. Not only does it give you support in the water, but sometimes there are slick areas in the pool.

3) The Hays Center asks us to wear Hays Center Appropriate Swimwear. We all want to be sure that everything that should be covered is covered. Let's try not to offend anyone with our swim attire.

4) The Hays Center asks us not to wear T-shirts or shorts over our swimwear. This is because these fabrics break down in the water and clog the filtration systerm in the pool. This is very expensive to maintain.

5) The Hays Center asks us to shower prior to getting in to the pool. For the same reason. Our lotions, deoderants, etc clog the filtration system.

6) Please remember to keep your voices down during class. Pool rooms are noted for very poor aucustics. It is hard on the instructor's voice when trying to talk over loud members in class. It also makes it impossible for the other participants to hear.

7) Racial slurs and profanity are strictly prohibited at the Hays Center. This can result in suspension or termination of your membership.

8) Remeber to be curtious to everyone in the pool both prior to class and during class. I will not tolerate rudeness, predjudice, or someone's feelings getting hurt from anyone in my class.

9) NO COMPLAINING!! In my class there is always music. I alternate the music every class. I try to keep the music upbeat so we can have a good workout. If you don't like the music, never fear. It will be different next time!

10) Please do not step in front of the camera when we have special events if you are uncomfortable with your appearence. It takes alot of time to edit pictures and in some instances ruins the pictures of other class members.

11) Before and during class is not the time to air your complaints about the class, someone in the class, a gripe with me or about me. The proper times is after class, privately.

12) Remember that I am a volunteer; in other words teaching the class or anything extra that I do is on my personal time.

13) Our website is for fun and information. It is not intended to embarrass anyone. Also it takes my personal time. Please enjoy it.

14) Have fun. Get your jive on. Remember that laughing is a great way to burn calories!
