WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA, USA

1/5/14

Hi Everyone. On today's trip, we are going to a place that has been
requested for a visit. We are going to Winchester, Virginia.

Winchester is an independent city located in the northwestern portion
of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the USA. The city's population was
26,203 according to the 2010 Census. Winchester is the county seat of
Frederick County.

Winchester is located in the Shenandoah Valley, between the Blue Ridge
and Appalachian Mountains. It is home to Shenandoah University and
the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley.

Winchester played a part in the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary
War, and the Civil War. There are many historical places, including
battlefields, to mark the events.

Winchester is the location of the annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom
Festival, which has existed since 1924. It is usually held during the
first weekend in May. The festival includes a carnival, parades,
several dances and parties, and a coronation where the Apple Blossom
Queen is crowned.

A three-block section of downtown Loudoun Street was closed to vehicular
traffic in the 1980s and is a popular pedestrian area featuring many
boutique shops and cafes. The street was paved with brick and
landscaped in 2013.

January is normally the coldest month with average temperatures between
23 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit. July is normally the warmest month
with average temperatures between 64 and 87 degrees F. June tends
to be the rainiest month with an average of 3.9 inches, and a yearly
average of 37.7 inches of rain. January tends to be the snowiest
month with an average of 6.2 inches, and a yearly average of 22.5
