HI EVERYONE... YESTERDAY, WE WENT TO BULGARIA TO SEE A
SPECIAL CAVE... TODAY, WE ARE GOING TO THAILAND...

WE ARE GOING TO SAI YOK NATIONAL PARK IN KANCHANABURI PROVINCE,
THAILAND... THE PARK IS HOME TO MOUNTAINS, WATERFALLS, AND CAVES...
THE PARK IS 190 SQUARE MILES... THE KHWAE NOI RIVER
(RIVER KWAI) RUNS THROUGH THE PARK..

TEMPERATURES IN THE PARK AREA HAVE A WIDE ANNUAL RANGE
FROM 46 F TO 113 F... THE DRIEST TIME OF THE YEAR
IS FROM DECEMBER TO FEBRUARY, WHILE THE RAINIEST TIME IS
FROM MAY TO OCTOBER...

THE PARK ALSO CONTAINS NUMEROUS CAVES, THE LARGEST OF WHICH IS THAM LAWA...
THIS CAVE CONSISTS OF FIVE LARGE CAVERNS, EACH CONTAINING LARGE
STALACTITES AND STALAGMITES...

SAI YOK IS HOME TO KITTI'S HOG-NOSED BAT, KNOWN AS
THE BUMBLEBEE BAT... IT IS A RARE BAT SPECIES CONSIDERED
TO BE THE WORLD'S SMALLEST MAMMAL, MEASURING 1.1 TO 1.3
INCHES LONG, WEIGHING AROUND 2 GRAMS... THE BAT WAS FIRST
SPOTTED IN 1973 AND IS FOUND IN SOME LIMESTONE CAVES
OF THE PARK AND SURROUNDING AREAS KNO KANCHANABURI PROVINCE AND
NEARBY BURMA... THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE THESE BATS ARE FOUND...

BUMBLEBEE BATS HAS A REDDISH-BROWN OR GREY COAT WITH
A DISTICTIVE PIG-LIKE SNOUT... COLONIES RANGE GREATLY IN SIZE,
WITH AN AVERAGE OF 100 INDIVIDUALS PER CAVE.. THE BAT
FEEDS DURING SHORT ACTIVITY PERIODS IN THE EVENING AND DAWN...
FEMALES GIVE BIRTH ANNUALLY TO A SINGLE OFFSPRING...
