EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY, USA
2/1/14
East Rutherford is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey. As of the 2010
U. S. Census, the borough's population was 8,913. It is an inner-ring
suburb of New York City, located 7 miles west of Midtown Manhattan.
East Rutherford is the home of the Meadowlands Sports Complex, which
includes the Izod Center, the former home of the New Jersey Nets of
the National Basketball Association and the New Jersey Devils of the
National Hockey League. It is the current home of the Ticket-City
Legends Classic and Fordham Rams Basketball as well as concerts and
other events. The MetLife Stadium, home of the National Football
League's New York Giants and New York Jets and the site of Super Bowl
XLVIII is also located there. East Rutherford is the smallest city
ever to host a Super Bowl. It is also the site of WrestleMania 29.
East Rutherford is the only municipality with fewer than 10,000
residents to have been home to five professional sports teams
simultaneously.
January is normally the coldest month with average temperatures between
24 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit. July is normally the warmest month with
average temperatures between 68 and 86 degrees F. July tends to be
the rainiest month with and average of 4.5 inches, and a yearly
average of 47.6 inches of rain. February tends to be the snowiest
month with an average of 10.1 inches, and a yearly average of 33.9
inches of snow.
Although the area is primarily involved around the sports complex, I
hope you enjoy seeing a little bit about where the Superbowl will
be played.
