MARBURG, GERMANY
4/15/14
Marburg is a university town in the German federal state (Bundesland) of
Hesse, capital of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district (Landkreis). The
town area spreads along the valley of the river Lahn and has a
population of 72,433 as of December 31, 2012.
Architecturally, Marburg is famous both for its medieval churches and
for its castle Marburger Schloss. In particular, the Elisabethkirche
is an archetype of Gothic architecture in Germany.
Parks in the town include the Old Botanical Garden, as well as the new
one outside the town proper.
January is normally the coldest month with average temperatures between
28 and 37° F. July is normally the warmest month with average
temperatures between 55 and 73° F. July tends to be the rainiest
month with an average of 2.9 inches, and a yearly average of 23.7
inches of rain. January tends to be the snowiest with an average of
6.4 inches, and a yearly average of 25 inches of snow.
I would like to say that I do not read German, and there are some things
written in German in some pictures. I am hoping there is nothing bad
in there, but will put my apology on here in case there is. I hope
you enjoy this trip to Marburg, Hesse, Germany.
