HORSESHOE BEND, ARIZONA, USA
9/16/13
Horseshoe Bend is the name for a picturesque horseshoe-shaped turn
of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona,
in the United States. It is located 5 miles downstream
from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Accessible via a ½-mile hike,
it can be viewed from the steep cliff above.
According to Google terrain maps, the overlook is 4,200 feet
above sea level and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet
above sea level making it a 1,000 feet drop.
According to one photographer, "Horseshoe Bend is both awe inspiring
and scary at the same time; there is no
guard rail along the edge of the thousand foot cliffs leading down."
We must be very careful. Remember, on our online trips,
nothing can happen to us, so no one will
be falling over the edge.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, USA.
