ORANGE JULIUS COOKIES

INGREDIENTS:

2 1/2 cups of flour (do not sift)

1/4 tsp. salt

3/4 tsp. baking powder

2 sticks of softened butter

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup of brown sugar

1 beaten egg (room temperature)

3 tsp. grated orange zest

12 oz. bag white chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, and place rack in the middle position.

Prepare cookies sheets with oil or baking paper.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda. Stir well.

In another bowl, beat the softened butter, white sugar and brown sugar until light and airy.

Add a beaten egg to the butter mixture, and stir.

Then add the orange zest and stir well.

Mix into the flour mixture. It is best to add in thirds.

Stir in white chocolate chips.*

Drop by teaspoons on a cookie sheet, 12 cookies to a standard size sheet.

Flatten the cookies in a crisscross pattern with a fork dipped in sugar.

Bake at 350 F for 10 to 12 minutes. If you have a confection oven, bake about 6 minutes.

Cool on the cookie sheet for 2 minutes. Remove and completely cool on a rack.

*Note: Instead of putting the white chips in the batter, you could melt the chips and then dip half of the cookie in the white chocolate.
