FROSTED BANANA BARS

INGREDIENTS


Banana Bars


1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1 1/2 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp. baking soda

Pinch of salt


Frosting:


1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened

4 cups confectioners sugar

2 tsp. vanilla




DIRECTIONS:


For Banana Bars


In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.

Beat in eggs, bananas and vanilla.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt and add to wet mixture.

Put into a greased 15x10x1 inch baking pan.

Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.

Cool completely before frosting.


For Frosting


Cream butter and cream cheese in a mixing bowl.

Gradually add sugar and vanilla and beat well.

Spread over cool bars.



Makes 3 dozen.
