Our Treasure Hunt yard sale for Cystic Fibrosis won us 250 points, plus 150 bonus points for media exposure...Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel, and the Jim and Jade Show on TV. Total=400 points

Our Treasure Hunt for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was a smashing success. We earned $500 with the help of friends and neighbors who generously donated items to be sold for this benefit. Following are some photos of the day and the people who helped us. The different color t-shirts represent a competing neighborhood. Even though they may be competing against us in the olympics, they still came to support the benefit. It really was a wonderful day. Enjoy the photos.

Let's go this way....................No, let's go that way

.....

Who is this I see? Why it's Jeanette! If you looked at our Neighborhood Conference page, you saw Jeanette dancing in the park on Thursday evening. She works for the City of Hollywood in the Housing and Community Rehabilitation Dept. She came out to lend her support for our cause.

This is Chester. He was our cashier.

Some other special visitors included....

Beam Furr, our district Commissioner

and our Mayor, Peter Bober

Back Row..Mayor Bober, Pat Lay, Jack Meharian
Sitting: Nancy Caruso, the brain child of the Neighborhood Olympics, Sharon Paxton, our Neighborhood Resource Specialist, and Shirley Stealey, Neighborhood Olympic Coach for Highland Gardens Civic Assoc.

Not only did Nancy dream up the idea of the Neighborhood Olympics, but she came out to support by buying items....(John Maynard, Olympic Coach for United Neighbors is standing behind Chester.)...

she also came to help......

"Can't we get these things organized?...................Let's start with these lamps."

.......

Donna Biederman, who also works in the Housing Dept. came out to lend her services. She actually signed up a new member for the organization. Go Donna!!!

Even though Nancy was the brain child for the Olympics, it was Donna who took the ball and ran with it. She organized the coaches, a field day, etc., etc.

And the winner is....

.....

Chris held a raffle, and the mayor won a prize. We actually went to his office to get a picture.

More supporters.....

Helen and Ruth..................................Evan and Friend

....

Ruthie belongs to the Highland Gardens Civic Assoc., and Helen belongs to United Neighbors. Evan and his friend belong to the Beverly Park Association.

Jack, our Sgt. at arms, Sharon Paxton, Nancy Caruso, Shirley Stealey, and Pat Lay.

What a gang! (Notice the t-shirts)............................Oops! We forgot one.

.......

Tammy, red shirt in the back row is from Playland Estates Association. Nadine (blue tee) and little one in the front row is from Washington Park Association. The lady in red kneeling is from United Neighbors.

Well, it was a wonderful day, but, here comes my
handsome hubby, Johnny..................................................and my equally handsome grandson, Lucas.

.......

Looks like it's time to start packing up. The items that weren't sold was donated to Broward Outreach and Goodwill.

The Treasure Hunt was suggested to us by Mark Lincoff, but the motivation to actually put it together came because of the Neighborhood Olympics. The Olympics has brought neighborhoods together. Thanks goes to all the Housing Department employees who came out to help and support. It's really encouraging when the city works with the residents.
