Once again we hopped on the Trolley and was off to the Civic center for the last time. We had a continental breakfast then off to class we went. This lasted till 10:30 then it was almost time for the final ceremony and lunch.
Our guest speaker was a young man named Michael Chatman.
Actually, you are looking at a very blurred picture of Michael and ..... uh, Richard, what are you doing up there? Just kidding. Richard helped to pass out awards. Sorry about the blurred pictures. I think next time someone else should be the photographer.
Anyway, Michael, who grew up in Miami's Liberty City and Overtown areas, related to us his abuse as a child, joining a gang and finally ending up in jail. He told us how he turned his life around and now travels to talk with young people trying to help them understand that they don't have to follow the crowd. They can take control of their own lives.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch that was served to us this time.
