Surprise Birthday Party Review
by Phelicity Marie Dauphine
The social event of the season is going on right now! It's our furry own Queen Midnight's big surprise birthday party! This reporter was lucky enough to be invited, in fact actually escorted, to this wonderfur party, along with forty-eleven other guests! The staff and special Party Designers of the Zine had everything in place for the Queen's arrival. We all mewgiggled, shifted nervously from foot to paw, and waited. After weeks of planning, getting all dressed up, carrying in piles and piles of wonderfur presents without being seen, now we were just waiting for the guest of honor to arrive and get a big surprise, when some of us started to ask each other how we knew the Queen would come! Finally we asked our ofurworked Editor, Jessie, what the plan was to get the Queen to her party. Who was going to bring her?
Our dear Editor's eyes got round as saucers, she screamed "eeek!" and went plop! on the floor! Uh-oh.
Then suddenly the door to the party room opened, and Queen Midnight herself, looking exceptionally regal in her purple robe, looked in. "What in the world...?" she began, with a bemused twinkle in her eye.
We all started singing "Happy Birthday", and crowding around her to give her gifts and offer food to her, while some of the staff was reviving Jessie, some fanned their faces in relief with a plate, some popped open the nip champagne real fast, and I ....well, ..I chewed up a ribbon, or maybe that was my date's bow tie.
From then on, everything was purrfect. The guests were dressed in their finest outfits and party hats, and brought such lovely gifts to Queen Midnight! She has opened them all, and oh my, everything is simply stunning! This reporter sat on that beautiful bed she got, just for a second when the Queen wasn't looking, and I can report that it's plushy and comfy! I was curious about what her perfumes smelled like, too, so I took tiny whiffs when she wasn't looking, just so I could report to mew that one is catnip and wild flowers and the other is tuna-rose. I didn't touch her diamond tiara, I promise, and any kitty who knows me knows how hard it was to keep my paws off that! The queen was so pleased with all her gifts.
I think I saw a d-d-dog in there, eeek! but I scurried out of the way real fast - straight into... eek! a horse! Two of them, drawing a magnificent royal carriage. Mew simply must come and see everything!
The food at the party is meowvelous! I understand that Watson, the chef, outdid himself. There's luscious lobster, rare roasts, cracked crabs, slurpy spaghetti, yummy shrimp and lots else! I'm afraid there are no sardines left (my sisfur was there), but there's plenty of elegant food and several beautifur birthday cakes that all taste so good! I had a piece of each one, so I know. All in all, this is simply the loveliest party mew efur saw. It's still going on, too, so be sure to attend and wish Queen Midnight a Happy Birthday!
