The abuse injuries that caused her death were a fractured skull, a main torn artery to the heart, internal bleeding, cardiac arrest, etc. She also had countless bruises on her back and a 3rd degree burn on her bottom, and the upper back of her leg.

The guy who killed her was William Brown. At sentencing he got life with no parole. Even though they had the same last name, they weren't related. Jessica's biological father was living somewhere in Florida at the time it happened.

Previous to that night, someone in the family had called Childrens' Services to report their concerns of Jessica being abused. Childrens' Services was supposed to be at their house the day (of the night) she was killed.
