This testimony comes from a flyer for the "50th All Day Meeting" from the church that my husband attended as a small child....Brother Jack is his grandfather.
This First Penticostal Church was established in 1929. At that time it was a schoolhouse.
In the early stages of the church, it was decided to have an all day meeting on the last Sunday in July. The sole purpose was for GOD's children to come together for a day of praise and worship.
According to records, the first all day meeting was observed in 1930. This, being 1980, will be the 50th year.
Thanks be to GOD for... HIS GREATNESS IS UNSEARCHABLE (Psalms 145:3)... in that He hath done great things at this First Penticostal Church. Namely, these reported here.
In the early age of the church, as Brother Gaylen was preaching on the governments of the church, an angel in shining white array appeared in the doorway of the church. By the presence of this Heavenly Being, the power of GOD fell and people began to shout and praise the Lord.
In June of 1943, Brother Gaylen went to the home of Brother Jack. He had suffered three strokes and was paralyzed. Brother Jack had not walked for 20 years and 5 months. Brother Gaylen invited him to come to church for prayer and healing. Brother Jack's reply to the invitation was that he had been prayed for so many times and yet was not healed. Brother Gaylen returned to the church and asked the church to pray about it. After prayer, Brother Gaylen went again for Brother Jack, and this time he consented to come. They put him on a cot in a pickup truck. On arriving at the church, they carried him and placed the cot in front of the alter. The church prayed and GOD answered. In about thirty minutes, Brother Jack was healed and walking. He was able to work and ride a bicycle from his home in Highland Bend to New Boston...(about 4-6 miles). Brother Jack lived several years after that, but was never again afflicted in that way.
On another occasion, a local man had accidentally hit himself on the knee. Lockjaw set in. He was taken to the doctor and was to be admitted to the hospital the following morning. His family brought him to the church and asked Brother Gaylen to pray for him. Brother Gaylen and some of the church members went to the car where he was. He could not speak and looked so pitiful. Again prayer was made and GOD answered. When GOD unlocked his jaw, he cried out, "My jaws are unlocked." That, too, was a time of shouting and rejoicing, but this time on the highway. He reported to the doctor the next morning and told the doctor that GOD had healed him. He did not have to go to the hospital.
