Three Seconds To Die
After a very close call on a bridge where
the wheel of a truck touched my bicycle wheel,
we stopped and I grabbed the pen and paper from
the front pouch on Morton's bicycle.
This is what I wrote.
The sounds in my ear,
Three seconds you're here,
I know my great fear,
Can you see me?
You fumble inside,
A CD for your drive,
Oh where did it hide,
Can you see me?
The thoughts blend I've known,
I'm floating when thrown,
Falling hard on the road,
Can you see me?
You come to my side,
The tears you can't hide,
I'm bleeding inside,
Can you see me?
I'm wondering "Why?"
My children will cry,
Three seconds to die,
Can you SAVE me?
