Tides of Love and Life
O' how fickle are the currents
In our tides of love and life
That endear us or bereave us
With their floods of joy and strife,
And we never know (for certain)
What each tide will bring to bear
In good fortunes of contentment
Or in currents of despair.
We can only pray to Jesus
For His guidance and His care
To deliver us from longings
The bring currents of despair
And to bless us with the virtues
Of a Christian faith of heart
That will calm the griefs and heartaches
Raging currents may impart.
